GEN COLLEGE BIOLOGY I/LAB (BIO 111)

Paul's students took their basic biology concepts and turned them into children's books and hands-on projects for elementary students at Kyffin Elementary. Their goal was to build curiosity and interest in STEM education among elementary aged youth. Following are examples of the hands-on learning projects coordinated by the students for Kyffin Elementary.

HANDS-ON LEARNING AT KYFFIN
DNA STRANDS
Gummy Bear and Twizzler DNA strands were a big hit with 4th graders at Kyffin.
LED FLASHLIGHTS
Students learned how electricity is conducted by making LED flashlights.
FUN WITH MICROSCOPES
Students looked at cells through microscopes. They had the option to make a slide of thier own cheek cells as well as looking at some prepared slides.
BIO BOOKS FOR KIDS
The students created books for children that were printed into booklets. These are images from one of the books that students created.
